Lomilomi
Lomilomi has been a tradition of care and wellness in these islands for Kanaka (people) since the first peoples arrived at these shores. Handed down through the generations within a family line, nuances of technique vary from each family, as well as island to island. Lomilomi was employed to ease belly discomfort of infants, as well as aid injured Koa (warriors). It was used to shape the body as children grew to create pleasing form and add to the vitality of the child. As with every aspect in the life of the ancestors, Lomilomi was intertwined with prayer. It was given with deep reverence.
My goal is to honour every body that finds their way to my table. It is my joy to perpetuate this cultural practice of my ancestors, to participate in a skill that is ubiquitous throughout all the world.
Allow yourself to drop into a place of stillness, let go of tension and breathe in relaxation.
